Every letter so far
Newest first. Each one is a recipe you can cook on two rings, or a story from the kitchen, or both.
A flask of leek and potato for the hills
The soup I make on Saturday night so that Sunday on the mountain ends with something hot, and why it is better on the second day.
Blackberries from the bog road
Two hours with a lunchbox along a stone wall, and the crumble I make in a single dish small enough for a flat oven.
What the wild garlic left behind
In March I filled the freezer with green ice cubes from the banks of the Dodder. In September they make the quickest supper I know.
Brown bread for a walking lunch
A loaf with no yeast and no kneading, mixed in one bowl in ten minutes, that keeps for four days and slices thin enough for a sandwich.
About the letter
Before you subscribe
What is The Slow Kitchen?
A short letter by email with one recipe or one kitchen story, the same piece you can read here. Everything is cooked in my own flat, on two rings and one small oven, so it will work in yours.
How often does it arrive?
Once a week, on Sunday morning at eight, Dublin time. Some weeks in August I take off, and I say so the Sunday before.
Does it cost anything?
No. The letter is free and there are no adverts in it. If you would like to help, cook something and tell a friend.
How do I stop it?
Every letter has an unsubscribe link at the bottom. One click and you are off the list, with no questions and no sad goodbye email.
Can I write back?
Please do. Reply to any letter or use the contact page. I read everything and answer most of it, usually between Monday and Thursday.
